Remembrance Day

by Sarah on April 28, 2009

It looks like an ordinary little red flower (Helichrysum sanguineum) but each year on Remembrance Day the school children wear a small sticker of this flower commemorating the soldiers and terrorist victims who died for this country. It represents spilled blood but also the hope of regrowth. Back to back, sad and happy, today is a time to remember but tonight the celebration begins, tomorrow is Independence Day.
