Levinsky Spice Market in Tel Aviv
So in my introverted way I launched my new site, Exotic Markets, without much fuss or commotion and let it roll along.
But that wouldn’t be fair. I would like to bring out the banners, flags and marching bands and with great fanfare officially introduce Exotic Markets, a gallery of market photographs from all over the world. Most of all I want to thank the many of you for your support and enthusiasm, without which this site would not exist.
Market in Old City Jerusalem, near Jaffa Gate
Special thanks to the very first who submitted photographs, you are awesome! (I have not listed everyone who submitted or gave me permission to post their photographs but my thanks extends to them as well, thank you!)

Thanks also to Miriam Kresh and Chanita Harel for writing about the site on their blogs.
What market would I like to visit? That’s a hard question. I have discovered so many fantastic markets since beginning this site that it is almost impossible to decide. Here are a few that piqued my interest:
Kingsland Market in Calgary looks like fun
The biggest market of Africa in Addis Abba, Ethiopia and the markets of Peru
Exotic Morocco has always been on my list
As the website expands with more pictures I hope it can be used by travelers who want to find interesting places to visit. Or perhaps those looking for a local market near them. So on your next market trip, take the camera and add your own picture to the Exotic Markets of the world.

I have it on my list of things to do, I definitely plan to post some photos. I loved this idea and want to contribute. Congrats on all the attention and additions to the site.
Feel free to use any of my other pics, Sarah. Wherever we find ourselves, I’ll be sure to take a pic of the local market and submit it. The site’s a great idea and you’ve just reminded me to put it on our Facebook page.

thanks so much Julia! for your offer and your previous picture. It’s great to have Turkey represented on Exotic Markets.
Brilliant idea well-executed. So glad to be included and will be sharing a few more lovely markets soon I hope as travelling in UK right now.
You know, its just a coincidence that you posted this now I guess, because I had a post scheduled today where I was going to be linking to your exotic markets website.
I hope you get many hits.
Thank you Penny! Appreciate it!
It’s a great site and I think it will be a great success!
I hope that I can eventually add pics… we love markets but don’t often get to an exotic or a new one! I’ll see what I can search out this summer. Congratulations on launching a great and beautiful site!
